科學家宣稱研究獲得突破，發現性慾的秘密，而這可能會改變全球數百萬人的生活。據英國「每日郵報」報導，科學家研發出「神奇藥丸」，可讓「性趣缺缺」的男性與女性產生性慾。

這種藥物也可望提高生育率，據信也具有令人鼓舞的減重副作用。

如果成功，這種藥物在銷售上將凌駕陽痿藥物市場主導品牌威而鋼，因為威而鋼只能促進生理能力，而這種藥物可提升大腦的性慾。

喪失性慾影響逾三分之一女性和六分之一男性，且專家指出，緊張過度男性的性慾低落問題越來越普遍。

這種藥物利用一種會釋出第二型促性腺激素的荷爾蒙，該激素驅動動物與人類的生殖系統。

動物試驗已證實成功，而英國愛丁堡「人類生殖科學研究所」醫學研究委員會的專家，正在研究適用於人類的相同藥物。

該研究所所長密勒教授原先認為，這種藥物只能在女性身上發揮作用，但如今他相信，這種藥物沒有理由在男性身上無效，因此正計畫展開進一步試驗。

密勒說，研究人員進行實驗室試驗，在雌臭鼩與雌絨猴身上注射這種藥物，牠們會出現與雄性對等動物的典型交配行為。雌臭鼩會顯現出「擺臀與搖尾」，雌絨猴則出現「吐舌與挑眉」。

另外還出現出乎意料的副作用，這些實驗室動物食量比平常顯著降低，在若干案例中較平常食量減少三分之一。

在動物試驗中，剛開始研究人員只能將藥物注射入腦部，如今已能夠改注射入血管內，這是朝研發人類版本用藥並在全球行銷邁出的關鍵性一步。

研究人員希望最終能製造出藥丸式藥物，他們也相信這種藥物，將讓目前全球已有兩千七百萬男性服用過的威而鋼，變成無用武之地。

密勒說：「這種藥物會讓市場對威而鋼的需求完全消失，威而鋼無法引發性慾，只會促進勃起，無法激發性渴望。」
